Procedural documents can be sent directly to the addressee by post. As a rule, the documents must be translated into the language the addressee understands, usually Finnish (or Swedish). Alternatively, documents may be sent to the competent District Court where the process server delivers the documents to the addressee in person.

The request itself may be written in Finnish, Swedish or English. The documents to be served must be translated into Finnish (or Swedish). If there are indications that the addressee does not understand Finnish (or Swedish), the documents has to be translated in a language the addressee understands.
