The police may turn over information in their personal data register to foreign authorities whose task it is e.g. to prevent and investigate crimes, where the information is necessary for carrying out those tasks. Customs authorities may turn over information in their personal data files to foreign customs authorities for the purposes of preventing, investigating and prosecuting an offence. Data may also be conveyed to other foreign authorities for the same purposes, where the offence could lead to imprisonment had it been committed in Finland. When turning over information to Finnish authorities there are no particular procedures to be followed.
