Latvian/English (for the execution of urgent request/decision the priority is the Latvian language)

MLA - shall be decided immediately, but not later than within 10 days after receipt thereof. If additional information is necessary for deciding of a request, such information shall be requested from the country that submitted the request. A competent authority of Latvia takes a decision to recognise and execute EIO as soon as possible, however not later than within 30 days after receipt of the EIO, if translation is not required. The Ministry of Justice within 10 days from the day of receipt of a EIO (if the amount of materials is extremely large - within 30 days) verifies materials and sends the materials after the verification to the district (city) court for taking a decision to recognise and execute the EIO in Latvia.

The request may be executed in a different order if it is requested so by a foreign state and is not in contradiction with basic principles of the criminal procedure of Latvia. Upon request of a foreign state the competent authority may give a permission to representative of a foreign state to participate in the execution of the measure or execution of it in person in the presence of a representative of the requested execution body.
