The EJN Secretariat is proudly presenting the 8th biennial Report on Activities and Management of the EJN for the years 2023-2024.
This report gives an overview of the support provided by the EJN Contact Points to the national judicial authorities in cross-border requests for judicial cooperation as well as case examples for the indicated period. In addition, the report provides an insight of the added value of the Network to judicial cooperation in the EU, and beyond.
Over these two years, the focus was on cooperation between the EU Member States and the EJN supported practitioners regarding the application of the various EU legal instruments.
During this period, the EJN Contact Points facilitated cooperation in many types of cases. Some of the highlights the report showcases are that:
- In total 15376 EJN cases were reported by the EJN Contact Points;
- 1513 European Arrest Warrants (EAWs) were facilitated by EJN Contact Points;
- 4612 European Investigation Orders (EIOs) were facilitated by EJN Contact Points;
- the EJN was involved in 425 Freezing and Confiscation Orders.
The EJN Secretariat wishes to congratulations the EJN Contact Points for these impressive results reached during another two years of hard work in the fight against serious international cross-border crimes.
Next to that, the EJN intensified its cooperation outside of the EU, in particular with the Western Balkans, Latin America, the Caribbean and South East Asia and its cooperation with the EU institutions and agencies.
The report also touches upon the added value of the EJN website in light of the digitalisation of justice. Over the past two years, the EJN has continued to improve the EJN website and its online tools to effectively support the judicial authorities in their daily work.
The EJN has been invited to present the report during the upcoming CATS meeting in November as well as in the COPEN meeting in December. The report is available on this website here, together with the biennial reports of the previous years.
