From 10 to 12 June 2026, the European Judicial Network (EJN) held a Regional Meeting in Balatonszemes, Hungary, bringing together EJN Contact Points, prosecutors, judges and practitioners from Hungary, Austria, Germany, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. The meeting was conducted entirely in German, allowing for in-depth discussions and a particularly interactive exchange of experiences among the participating practitioners.
The meeting focused on current challenges in judicial cooperation in criminal matters, with particular attention to cybercrime, the use of videoconferencing in criminal proceedings, mutual recognition of financial sanctions and issues related to the principle of speciality. Through a series of panel discussions, participants exchanged national experiences, best practices and practical solutions to common challenges.
The EJN Secretariat actively contributed to the discussions and provided an update on recent EJN developments during the dedicated EJN business session. The meeting further strengthened regional cooperation and facilitated valuable exchanges among practitioners from several Member States, contributing to the effective application of EU judicial cooperation instruments in criminal matters.
