The National Office for the Judiciary organised a Regional Meeting of the European Judicial Network (EJN) in Balatonszemes, Hungary, between 1 and 3 October 2025. The meeting was attended by National Contact Points, judges and prosecutors from Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, Croatia, and Serbia.
The meeting focused on illegal migrant smuggling and transfer of sentenced persons.
The first panel addressed the issue of migrant smuggling, with the moderator opening the discussion with a short introduction of the topic by presenting the Hungarian regulations and practice, sharing some challenges and best practices.
The second panel discussion focused on the transfer of sentenced persons. After the short introduction of the topic, the moderator gave the floor to the participants. Both panels had lively discussions.
At the end of the meeting a representative from the European Judicial Network gave a presentation on EJN, its current work and priorities.
The Hungarian National Correspondent concluded the meeting by thanking all participants for attending the meeting, their valuable contributions for the discussions and emphasized the importance of continued cooperation among the NCPs.
