17th National Correspondents’ Meeting

On 9 October, the 17th National Correspondents’ Meeting of the EJN was organised at the Eurojust premises.

The day before, on 8 October, the EJN Presidency Board meeting took place as well as the joint meeting with Eurojust senior management, in which common issues were brought to the table.

As a follow up of the outcomes of this joint meeting, the National Correspondents discussed in their meeting the issue “allocation of cases between Eurojust and EJN”, the problem with under-performing Contact Points (either through non response or issues with competency) and shared their challenges and best practices in relation to the functioning of the EJN.

During the meeting, the National Correspondents were informed about the EJN activities 2025 and the planning for the coming years, and they discussed administrative matters concerning the functioning of the EJN. In addition, the participants were briefed on the EJN involvement in the 11th Round of Mutual Evaluations, cooperation with EU institutions, the e-Evidence package and cooperation with third countries and other judicial networks.

From their side, the National Correspondents updated each other and the EJN Secretariat with developments from their respective Member State in the area of judicial cooperation in criminal matters, including legislative, substantive, and procedural jurisprudence. Of particular interest was the number of Member States that have signed bilateral agreements with the UAE.

The conclusions of the meeting will be published on the restricted area of the EJN website.
