Under the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the EU, the 62nd Plenary Meeting of the European Judicial Network gathered approximately 125 EJN Contact Points in Antwerp from 10 to 12 June 2024.
The meeting was opened by Ms Isabelle De Tandt, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ghent, Mr Serge de Biolley, Director at the General Secretariat of the Council, Justice and Home Affairs, and Mr Hugh Dockry, Head of the European Judicial Network Secretariat, in the spirit of judicial cooperation with national authorities.
Ms Jacqueline De Mol, Federal Magistrate at the Federal Prosecution Office, and Mr Daniel Flore, Director General of the Directorate General for Legislation, Freedoms and Fundamental Rights at the Belgian Ministry of Justice, chaired the meeting.
The EJN Contact Points discussed and defined the framework for intensified international cooperation in the execution phase and the application of investigative measures when tracing and confiscating assets post execution phase Next to that, a big part of the meeting was devoted to victims’ rights with a central contribution from the EU Coordinator for Victims’ Rights and the EU Fundamental Rights Agency.
In addition, the EJN Contact Points were informed on the Belgian judicial cooperation system and on cooperation with EL PAcCTO, the EPPO and FRA as well as on the Commission’s legislative initiatives in the field of judicial cooperation.
