EJN Language Training in Lublin (Poland)

On 10 and 11 April 2024, the EJN Secretariat and the Polish National Prosecutor’s Office organised the annual Legal English Language training for EJN Contact Points in the National School for the Judiciary and Prosecution Service in Lublin, Poland. Approximately 25 EJN Contact Points took part in the training, representing 14 EU Member States (BG, CZ, DE, DK, ES, FR, FI, FR, IT, NL, PL, PT, SK and SL).

The Legal English Language training consisted of training on legal terminology in English as well as substantive legal topics such as cybercrime, EAW and EIO. The Contact Points had the chance to exchange information on the national legal systems and criminal procedures related to the application of the EAW and EIO and to share best practices in cross-border cybercrime investigations.

Additionally, the training included presentations on the legal and funding aspects of JITs with the aim of introducing the EJN Contact Points to JITs and the work of the JITs Network. The development of linguistic skills and knowledge on the topics of the discussion as well as on the legal systems, were achieved, whilst increasing mutual trust between the EJN Contact Points. Apart from the Linguistic Trainer experienced National Correspondents from FI and NL provided valuable input.
