20 October 2023 | The 3rd Regional Meeting of Contact Points of the EJN was held in Warsaw on 9 and 10 October 2023.

The meeting was attended by contact points from the National Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Justice, regional and circuit prosecutor's offices as well as invited foreign guests: the EJN Network Secretary Hugh Dockry and the EJN contact points from Austria, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Sweden and the Liaison Prosecutor from the United Kingdom.

The main topic of the meeting was the rights of victims to the restitution of property and compensation in cross-border cases in light of EU Regulation No. 1805/2018 on the mutual recognition of freezing and confiscation orders. The speeches of the participants, the presentations of cases on victims' rights and the discussion afterwards showed how different national regulations are in the field of the topic discussed and how useful the role of the European Judicial Network may be at the stage of preparing the freezing orders and their implementation.

At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of the EJN informed the meeting about current and planned activities in which the contact points will be involved, including the inclusion of the EJN in the evaluation teams in the next round of mutual evaluations within the EU.

The previous regional meeting of the EJN in Poland took place in 2018 and was devoted to discussing national experiences in the functioning of the European Investigation Order in criminal matters and freezing property in cross-border relations, with a particular emphasis on securing real estate. Representatives of Austria, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Germany, Slovakia and Sweden took part at the time.
