With the aim of strengthening the functioning of the EJN in the Western Balkan area, a meeting was organised with EJN contact points from the Western Balkans and from a number of EU Member States. In addition, representatives from the EJN partners SEEPAG and IPA/2017 Project "Countering Serious Crime in the Western Balkans" made a presentation.
The discussions were focusing on challenges and solutions with regard to judicial cooperation between the EU and Western Balkan countries, in the area of MLA, extradition and transfer of proceedings. Also interoperability between judicial and police authorities in different cooperation procedures was touched upon. Furthermore, the participants shared views on experience with the EJN, such as cases, trainings and regional meetings and how to make awareness of the EJN, especially in the Western Balkan. Finally, the EJN Secretariat introduced the EJN website and the EJN Reporting tool to the colleagues from the Western Balkans.
The conclusions from the meeting will be shared in early 2020.
