New Compendium and revised Fiches Belges

Last week two important tools of the EJN Website have seen major upgrades. The Compendium is used to draft requests for judicial cooperation and replaces two earlier versions: the MLA Compendium and the EAW Compendium. The new Compendium extends the scope to incorporate several Mutual Recognition Instruments; Freezing Order, Confiscation Order, Financial Penalties, Custodial Sentences (Transfer of Prisoners), Exchange of Criminal records (ECRIS), Probation Measures, Supervision Measures and Protection Order. With the new version of the Compendium the EJN Website is also ready to give support for the new European Investigation Order that will gradually replace the requests currently made in the framework of Mutual Legal Assistance.

The interconnection between the Compendium and the Atlas has been improved, creating a smooth, user-friendly workflow for the practitioners when drafting requests, finding the correct Legal Instrument to support the requests and finding the competent authorities to send the requests to. Care has been taken to create an intuitive interface that makes working with the Compendium an easy, rewarding exercise.

The Fiches Belges give practical information per Member State on measures that are requested through judicial cooperation within the framework of Mutual Legal Assistance or Mutual Recognition Instruments. Together with the EJN Tool Correspondents the Fiches have been revised and updated. They now offer clear, concise practical information to facilitate successful cooperation between Member States. The combination of the Atlas, Compendium, Fiches Belges, Library and Contact Points section, ensures the EJN Website is the optimal tool for practitioners in the field of judicial cooperation in criminal matters.
