On 8 December 2020, the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) rendered a judgment in the case C-584/19, ruling that a European investigation order may be adopted by the public prosecutor’s office of a Member State exposed to the risk of being subject to individual instructions from the executive.

The Commission set out ambitious targets in its European Judicial Training Strategy 2021-2024, published the Annual Report 2020 on European Judicial Training and launched a new European Training Platform.

The EJN and Eurojust publish a joint report on the practical application of the “Petruhhin” judgment of the Court of Justice of the EU across the EU. The report addresses the challenges that the judicial authorities are facing in cases of extradition of EU citizens to non-EU countries and the actual application of the “consultation procedure” introduced by the CJEU jurisprudence.
