EMPRO project (“Empowerment of the Framework Decisions 2008/947 and 2009/829 through EU Probation Services”) seeks to strengthen the understanding and application of Framework Decision 2008/947 on the application of the principle of mutual recognition to judgments and probation decisions with a view to the supervision of probation measures and alternative sanctions, and Framework Decision 2009/829 on the application, between Member States of the European Union, of the principle of mutual recognition to decisions on supervision measures as an alternative to provisional detention.
EMPRO Project is composed of 6 countries: France, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Romania.
Through comprehensive training activities of probation and other justice officials, EMPRO Project aims for a more frequent and efficient use of the abovementioned instruments.
