Revision of the Eurojust Regulation and EIO Directive proposed

On 24 June 2026, the European Commission published a proposal to revise the Eurojust Regulation, proposing new measures to strengthen the EU's response to an evolving criminal landscape.

The proposal forms part of a broader legislative package, which also includes proposals to revise the European Investigation Order (EIO) Directive, the Europol Regulation, together with several amendments to the data protection framework.

The proposals will now be examined by the European Parliament and the Council before the revised instruments can be adopted and enter into force.
