EJN National Meeting of Contact Points in Vilnius: Strengthening Judicial Cooperation

On 18 September 2025, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, in cooperation with the EJN Secretariat, organised a national meeting of EJN Contact Points in Vilnius under the theme “The Role of the EJN in Legal Cooperation: Turning Awareness into Action.”

The meeting aimed to bring together all Lithuanian EJN Contact Points, with the goal of reactivating and strengthening the national network. Its primary objectives were to raise awareness of EJN tools, enhance their practical application, and reinforce cooperation among CPs to ensure more efficient handling of cross-border judicial cases. Sessions also focused on strengthening judicial cooperation in criminal matters and promoting the exchange of best practices.

"These meetings are an excellent platform to exchange experiences and ideas, and to discuss practical solutions that enable us to act faster, more efficiently and more effectively in addressing complex judicial cases in Europe," - underlined Ms Andrada Bavėjan, National Correspondent of the EJN in Lithuania.

Key discussions highlighted the role of the EJN and national CPs in facilitating effective judicial cooperation within the European Union. Participants were introduced to the EJN website and practical IT tools, and the Prosecutor General’s Office presented insights on the practical application of the European Investigation Order (EIO) in Lithuania. The meeting also addressed the impact of recent EU legislative and policy developments on national practice.

It was emphasised that the EJN provides essential support in handling cross-border cases, fosters direct contacts between competent authorities, and promotes cooperation based on mutual trust. The event also offered valuable networking opportunities, reinforcing Lithuania’s commitment to active engagement with the broader objectives of the EJN.

The meeting gathered representatives of the EJN Secretariat, Lithuanian courts, the Prosecutor General’s Office and regional prosecutor’s offices, as well as the Ministry of Justice.

The event was organised and co-funded with the support of the EJN grant for national and regional meetings.
