1. MEASURE IMPLEMENTATION

Is this measure possible in your Member State under International Judicial Cooperation?

Yes. Without any primary request information shal be forwarded to the competent authority of another State, which may have interest in such information. According to the Code of the Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Lithuania, in case when the detention is imposed on the national of another state, prosecutor shall inform immediately the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania and, if the detainee requests, the diplomatic mission or consular agency of his country.

Convention of 29 May 2000 on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters between the Member States of the European Union, European Convention on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters of 20 April 1959.

3. COMPETENT AUTHORITY TO:

* receive the request/decision for judicial cooperation

The relevant information from the foreign states shall be sent to the Ministry of Justice, which forwards it to the Information Technology and Communications Department under the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. The Ministry of Justice also receives the copies of judgments and rulings concerning foreigners from the courts of Lithuania and forwards them to the appropriate foreign states.
