Is this measure possible in your Member State under International Judicial Cooperation?

Informers may be used as an investigative measure. Informers can be both police personnel and civilians. An informer is defined as a person who after agreement with the police systematically supplies the authorities with information concerning the criminal activities of others.

Denmark will receive requests in Danish, Norwegian, Swedish or English but will also receive requests in French and German although translation may be done at sending states expense.

6. CONCISE LEGAL PRACTICAL INFORMATION

a. Special requirements

No special conditions apply to the use of informers, but an informer must not participate in the criminal activities reported on (any such participation falls within the ambit of agent activities).

b. Other useful information

The identity of an informer, who will not give evidence during the trial, can remain undisclosed by the police. The identity of an informer who will give evidence during the trial must be made known to the council for the defence. The identity of an informer who will give evidence during the trial who is a police officer may on the decision of the court president remain undisclosed for both council for the defence, the indicted and the court.
